JDL Studio began as a print design studio in the early 90s before commercial web sites were widely available, and we're still very actively involved in the world of print. Most of our web site projects focus on unique marketing and branding, and we feel that web and print materials should closely mirror each other to maintain branding consistency.
Print has been around for a much longer time than the web, so it serves as a good model to predict the way web design will likely evolve. Our philosophy is that if you can do something unique and individualized with print materials, the same thing can and should be done with your web site. Below are some examples of our print and logo design work.
TradeWind Energy Trade Show Banners

Large trade show print banners for a wind energy company. Design and concept by Tracy Design. Retouching and final print production by JDL Studio.
Teamwear Sports Clothing & Equipment Catalog

Print catalog designed for a sports apparel company selling soccer clothing and equipment. Design and concept by Tracy Design. Layout design and illustration by JDL Studio.
Pyramid Pipe and Supply Catalog

Catalog cover print for a plumbing supply company. The inside was broken up into four main color coded sections indicated by the colored icons on the lower right of the cover. The two-color inside spreads have a full bleed, and color coded tabs at the left and right edges for ease of navigation.
Pyramid Pipe and Supply Calendar

Yearly promotional calendar for a plumbing supply company. Ads from different vendors are featured for each month. Pyramid's information is reversed out on a colored background to help distinguish it from vendor logos and information. Since the templates are two-color, seasonal colors can be printed (i.e. green for spring, gold for summer, burnt orange for autumn, and blue for winter).
Alexander Majors Logo

Logo for the Alexander Majors Historic House and Museum in Kansas City.

Metro Bus Systems Logo

Proposed logo for the Metro Bus Systems in Kansas City. The concept involved an iconic symbol representing a wheel in motion with steps for boarding the bus.
Mound City Greenhouse Logo

Logo for a new nursery business in the eastern Kansas area. The icon represents a standard greenhouse structure with super-imposed foliage. Matching web site and business cards were also developed and printed.
BNWE Electronics Logo

Logo designed for an electronics seller on eBay. This is placed within an auction template header which is interchangeable with different electronics product icons and descriptions.
Dream Office Logo

Logo designed for an interactive multimedia project.
Whamboozal Video Game Logo

Logo for a multimedia Jeopardy-like video game played in front of a live audience. A comic book style type treatment was used to match the overall theme of the game.
Smokey Hills Wind Project Logo

Proposed logo for a new wind energy company. This was to be printed on everything from trucks to T-shirts, so we used a solid color format (which works equally well reversed on a black background).
